My Father’s Book — and Mine
My first book is a tribute to my father — and to the book of his that I couldn’t stop looking at.
My first book is a photo book: Conceptual Fashion: Neo Cyberpunk × NeoGoth Futuristic Wear. It’s out in the world now, and I want to say why it exists — because it isn’t just a collection of pictures.
It’s a tribute to my father.
When I was young, my father had a book. It was his book, but I was allowed to look at it whenever I wanted. It was about futuristic fashion — alternative fashion — from the late 70s, early 80s. I don’t remember its name. I just remember being obsessed with it: concept hairstyles, concept fashions, page after page of a future nobody around me was dressing for. It stayed true to my heart my whole life.
So this book is my turn. It’s my perspective on what futuristic fashion will look like — not the industrial side of the future, the fashion side. Because I do believe there will be a fashion side to things in the future. This is my take on it.
In the future I plan to actually write books — science fiction, and a fictional biography of myself. But my first book had to be this one. It began with my father’s book, and a kid who couldn’t stop looking at it.
